Criminal record/citizenship: Amazingly enough, Remy has no criminal record, though he does have a file of crimes he's believed to be involved in, but none of them have even a shred of evidence to prove that. He's American.
Affiliation: Acolytes
General Appearance:
Remy LeBeau can be easily described as handsome. He has slightly long auburn hair and a rough face to go with it, usually with a few days stubble. His rough appearance comes from strong facial features, while he appears ‘cool’ and approachable with his eyes covered by dark sunglasses. His eyes are certainly the most interesting thing about his appearance. The red iris on the black sclera is what makes most people believe his existence to be the work of the devil.
Remy has a well-built physique, having worked out the majority of his life to keep himself in the best of shape, the kind of shape it takes for a master thief. He is tall, 6’2, and weighs 180 pounds, making him slim but still well muscled. As for clothing, Remy usually wears old fading jeans with a tee-shirt, covered by a fading brown duster. When in uniform, he wears a black and red shirt with matching pants, as well as metal boots that are armored up to his knees.
Personality:
Arrogant is the definition of Remy LeBeau. He has confidence that most people dream to have, and the attitude that goes along with it. Time and time again Remy has been told that he has a big ego, and that only makes it bigger. Remy is known to be reckless and wild, though few actually know the truth. Remy is very observant and intelligent. He usually plans everything out far in advance. Every second Remy is observing his surroundings and those around him, learning their strengths and weaknesses, what makes them get up in the morning and what breaks them down. He knows their every unique movement, and can predict their next move. At times, Remy knows people better then they know themselves.
Remy is a master thief and gambler in the plainest of terms. He is aware of everything around him and plays the game accordingly. No matter his situation, Remy always manages to play a good hand and come out on top, even if it doesn’t appear that way to others. He is a master at conning his enemies, and even more a master at conning his allies. He plays his whole life with a poker face, and rarely takes it off for anyone. Even in the darkest of hours, Remy is deceiving people.
Through all his confidence, Remy is lacking at times, though he refuses to let it show. The inability to ever show his eyes bothers him, but he hides it with a smart remark, and goes on with life. With the knowledge of his past and all his deeds, Remy can sometimes find himself feeling inadequate next to an X-Man, or any other person who has willingly dedicated their life to a life of good, in any form.
At the least though, Remy is polite. He is a major flirt, and says some rather risqué things to a woman, but he is rarely rude.
Powers:
Gambit has the ability to turn an object’s potential energy into kinetic energy, turning it into an exploding projectile. With the ability to tap into his own body’s inner bio-kinetic energy, Gambit possesses a very dangerous mutation. Unlike other mutants, Gambit is not immune from his powers, having hurt himself in the past.
Being able to tap into kinetic energy gives Gambit multiple powers. The main power is turning objects into explosives that detonate approximately ten seconds after Gambit releases them. However, if held too long, the energy can become unstable and explode in Gambit’s own hands. For the sheer weight, Gambit prefers to charge smaller objects such as playing cards or nearby rocks. Charging larger objects takes more energy, more time, and they are harder to throw..
The kinetic energy surging through objects gives off a pink glow and heat, allowing Gambit to light a small room, and possibly heat one as well. To heat a room would take much more energy and concentration, and that is usually more then Gambit is willing to try for.
Another side effect of his powers is that he has gained increased agility, speed, dexterity and reflexes. This allows him to perform rather acrobatic-like moves without formal training. However, some of his moves comes from his past as a thief as well.
The last part of his mutation is his psionic shield and charm. Gambit’s powers grant him a mental block that can keep even the most powerful telepaths, such as Xavier, out of his mind. In addition, Gambit also has a kind of low-level charm that persuades people to trust him more then they normally would, and be attracted to him.
Weaknesses:
One of Gambit’s big weaknesses is his attraction to women. While he is very good at performing all tasks of the job given to him, and keeping a straight face throughout, Gambit can’t help but want to be kind to the women he runs into. Part of his Southern raising. Of course, this doesn’t mean that all women keep him from doing his job, he just won’t harm them if he can help it.
Gambit is also hurt by his own mutation, having ‘blown’ himself up many times when his powers were first discovered. He is also slightly betrayed by his mutated eyes, never being allowed to go anywhere without dark sunglasses to hide his red-on-black eyes.
Power Potential: Due to the help of Mr. Sinister, Gambit can potentially charge organic matter anywhere within sight, not just through touch.
History:
Remy’s history is a complicated one, however, well accomplished. In his rather short life, he has accomplished more then some men twice his age, though the past will never satisfy Remy.
Abandoned at birth, cast aside as being the devil, Remy would never know his parents. His demonic eyes give everyone who saw him the chills, and promised him a life of solitude. As a baby, Remy was stolen from the hospital by the Thieves’ Guild, and placed on the streets for his own safety, to keep him away from people who wanted much more from the little devil boy. Living on the streets as a boy, Remy did his best to survive. Living out of trash cans, stealing what he could, Remy was always alone. However, it wouldn’t last forever. One day Remy made the fatal mistake of trying to steal from Jean-Luc LeBeau, the head of the Thieves’ Guild. Jean-Luc immediately caught the boy. At 8 years of age, Jean-Luc knew the boy was finally ready to return home with him, where he would be raised as Jean-Luc’s son, and made into a true thief, one fitting of being an heir to the guild.
Growing up past that was more fun then anything else. Learning the skills of a thief, learning the movements, honing his reflexes, what more could a young boy ask for? He was rich now, his whole life transformed into something much more beautiful. He was a thief, an artist of sorts, though the rest of the world did not see it that way. When he was 15, Remy was once again forever transformed. He was partially blamed for the death of his younger cousin, Etienne. Remy was to be the observer of his cousin’s tilling, the rite of passage for a thief, one that would mark his life as a thief, or his life of solitude after having been exiled from the Thieves’ Guild. Etienne was to steal a chalice from a woman named Chandra. During the theft, things went horribly wrong when Chandra caught the boys and sent them off to dealer who took children with exceptional skills. The boys escaped from the dealer because of Remy’s powers, the first time he used his playing cards as a weapon. When jumping from a cliff to the sea below, Etienne died. Being the person who was meant to watch over Etienne, and keep him safe, Remy blamed himself for the death, though he had done everything in his power to save the younger boy.
Throughout his childhood, his best friend and sweetheart was always the beautiful blonde Belladonna Boudreaux. The daughter of the head of the Assassins’ Guild, and the rival of the Thieves’ Guild, though neither of the children cared. Both instructed to stay away from the other, the children still did not listen. They would grow up to become the saviors of their families.
Before that could happen though, Remy had yet another task when he was 17. At 17, he had another rite of passage, and in this one, he had to steal a rare and very sought after pendant from the daughter of a notorious jewel thief in Paris. Coming with him on this mission was his older brother Henri, the person who had been his observer during his first rite of passage.
Remy seduced Genevieve, the woman who had the pendant, and was using that as his way to get the pendant. Little did he know that Sabretooth was out for the pendant as well. Leaving Genevieve in the middle of the night one night, Remy was unaware of Sabretooth. Taking that as his opportunity, Sabretooth kidnapped Genevieve. Returning the hotel that he shared with Henri, Remy found a ransom note waiting for him, Sabretooth had kidnapped Henri as well. Leading him to Notre Dame, Remy found Sabretooth with both his brother Henri, and Genevieve, the woman he was falling in love with, dangling from the top of the building. In exchange for the pendant, Sabretooth would allow Remy to save only one of two. Doing the only thing he could do, Remy saved Henri, leaving Genevieve to fall to her death, and died in Remy’s arms. That night taught him a lesson he would never forget, after having felt responsible for his second death.
Upon returning to New Orleans, Remy and Belladonna were married off. For them it was love, but for the guilds, it was a peace treaty. Though not everyone saw it that way. Belladonna’s brother, Julien, opposed the marriage. He hated Remy, and wanted nothing more then Remy dead. In a duel, Julien was outclassed as both a swordsman and a fighter compared to Remy, but Julien didn’t care. He challenged Remy anyway, and to save his own life, and defend his marriage, Remy had no choice but to fight. The duel left Remy the victor, but Julien dead. Though everyone agreed that Remy was fighting in self-defense, Julien’s father was outraged, as was Belladonna. To spare Remy’s life, he was exiled from New Orleans and left feeling betrayed.
After leaving New Orleans, Remy was sought by other people. He spent time working for Mr. Sinister in exchange for an operation that would reduce the power of his mutation to a controllable level. As repayment, Remy was to gather a group of assassins called the Marauders and lead them into the sewers to the Morlock tunnels on an unknown mission. Once there, the mission became obvious, it was the annihilation of the Morlock race. In horror, Remy observed the team he had assembled slaughter hundreds of innocent people. Remy managed to save one girl from the massacre, and girl with bones covering her face. After that, he fled Mr. Sinister with the deepest of guilt, determined to never let anyone else know of this secret that would haunt him forever.
After that, Remy was ultimately sought out by Magneto. Agreeing to join Magneto, Remy became an Acolyte.

Sample RP:
The only thing that truly gave Remy the rush of adrenaline his body craved was the feel of a heist gone right. It didn't matter what the size of the object was, or how valuable, it just mattered that Remy had it in his possession at the end of the night. Of course, the better the object, the better the Cajun slept at night.
Standing with his back to a wall, covered by shadows, Remy's breath was even and steady as he listened to the guard's footsteps fade. Every muscle was coiled tightly, ready to spring should he be discovered. This wasn't how things were meant to go, he should have already been out of the museum by now, but the guards had changed their shifts. Presumably someone had called in sick at the last minute. Just an added challenge for Remy.
As the footsteps finally left earshot, Remy moved from his place on the wall, quick but silent footsteps taking him from room to room, until he stopped at the room he wanted. A simple gemstone, nothing fancy, not for Remy at least. Tonight was about feeding his hunger to steal, not to acquire anything for a buyer. For any normal thief, the thick glass casing would make them think twice, wonder if their diamond-tipped cutters would get all the way through, but Remy had no need for that. It was the pressure sensor that was the tricky part. Moving up to the case, Remy's bare hand came down straight onto the glass, turning it a bright red as the glass melted away, nearly instantly.

Other:
- Master thief: Considered a master thief by his family, Remy has proved to be one of the most skilled thieves in the world. He is capable of getting into, out of, and stealing nearly anything by himself without the use of his mutant powers. Adding his mutant powers, Remy is unmatched.
- Cunning: Remy is an extremely cunning foe and uses his environment and the mental state of his enemies to his advantage. He has been known to talk to his enemies to buy time to put his plan into action, or appear weak and timid to later overtake his foes. He has even been known to take a direct hit with an object to use it later and win the battle.
- Gambler: Remy has proved to have amazing luck with cards, hence his weapon of choice, and is a master cardsharp. He has the mentality of a gambler and thinks all situations out according to what he has to gain or lose.
- Heightened senses: Remy's training as a thief has given him heightened senses. When entering a room, he immediately memorizes the layout and all possible exits, not just doors. In addition to his memory and superior attention to small details, Remy has honed his hearing to pick up trace sounds.
- Agility: His mutation helps slightly, but Remy's main agility comes from his training.
- Hand-to-hand combat: Remy is a great fighter with just his hands, or with a simple weapon like his extendable bo-staff. This came from both his training and his experience with assassins.
- Rich: Being a world-class thief, Remy is literally a billionaire, though one would never know it. There is even the possibility that he has more money then Xavier.
