General Appearance: Rogue’s appearance isn’t what you’d call “classically beautiful”. She has very pale skin, wears quite a bit of makeup, and keeps her hair about shoulder length, with the white streaks in front. Her style of clothing is what you’d probably consider “goth”, as it’s mostly blacks and dark colors. Rogue’s southern accent is also very distinctive.
No matter what she's wearing, Rogue always tries to keep as much skin covered as possible. She always wears gloves as well, to keep accidents with her powers from happening. She also wears quite a bit of jewelry such as her choker and a few rings under her gloves.
Personality: Rogue’s powers force her to be very reserved most of the time. She rarely talks to people she doesn’t know well. When it is someone she knows well, Rogue can actually have all the charm of a southern belle. Although she usually disapproves of outright flirting (as seen when Kitty begins flirting with a boy), Rogue does leave small clues of whether she likes someone. As far as other emotions go, Rogue’s psyche is very delicate. Simple or small things can easily hurt her, and her retribution is usually anger. She’s been known to throw things, hit people, and scream during these “temper tantrums”. Rogue can usually hold a grudge over this, but like most it’s only temporary, especially with family and other people she’s close to.
Powers: Rogue has a rather unique ability of absorbing people’s essence: their powers, skills, past memories on skin to skin contact. She’s able to use these at her discretion, though how long they last depends on how long the contact lasts. On average, the ratio is roughly 60 seconds of power duration for every 1 second of touch. If the contact is held for too long, permanent absorption can occur (see potential). However, certain strong memories can remain imprinted for much longer, such as with Mystique’s nightmares about Kurt. As a foil, whoever she touched is left temporarily unconscious.
Weaknesses: Rogue’s weaknesses lie within her powers. First of all, her powers prevent any sort of skin-to-skin contact. Since Rogue is a rather social creature, her powers make her really depressed because she can’t be around people for risk of touching them. Also, if Rogue absorbs too many powers simultaneously, the presence of all the people in her mind can drive her to insanity from the overload.
Power Potential: While Rogue’s powers seem to only last temporarily, extended skin to skin contact with an individual can lead to permanent absorption of powers, skills, and memories. This usually leaves whomever she touched in a comatose state.
History: As a child, some people knew Rogue would be more special than most. Irene Adler, the precognitive mutant known as “Destiny”, told Magneto and Mystique of Rogue’s future powers, knowing they would be very powerful. Mystique legally adopted Rogue and placed her in Irene’s care, figuring Irene would be able to use her abilities of future seeing to keep Rogue out of harm’s way.
However, the measures Irene took were simply not enough to contain a teenage girl. At a dance, Rogue was accidentally touched by a boy named Cody, rendering him unconscious and giving her his football skills and past memories. Mystique returned and shape-shifted into various X-men to make Rogue distrust them, however Rogue developed a crush on Scott Summers. During a geology trip gone awry, Rogue touched Mystique and discovered that she had been deceived, and decided to join the X-men instead.
Rogue has yet to discover her true origin or the full potential of her powers, but only time will tell what's in store for her...
Other: I plan to have a run in with Ms. Marvel to get the super strength and flight back.
Sample RP:
“Ah swear Kitty, if you don’t turn down that racket, Ah am goin’ to take that boom box and break it over your head, whether you can phase through it or not!” Rogue snapped angrily, pointing a pencil accusingly at her bubbly and annoyingly loud roommate. Honestly, when had common courtesy disappeared from society anyway? It was very plain that she had a large test coming up and was studying very, very hard for it based on the sheer amount of books, papers, and the goth girl’s rather testy mood.
Sighing again, the southern belle turned back to her work. Chewing her eraser, she looked at the next sample problem. She began to read it softly out loud. “If the A Train is pullin’ out of the station at 11:00 am, an’ travelin’ at 120 miles per hour… an’ the B Train is pullin’ out of the station at 12 noon, an’ travelin’ at 90 miles per hour… at what point… well who was the stupid engineer that set up the tracks to make those trains crash anyway?!” Rogue yelled, crumpling up her scrap work paper and throwing it against the wall. Honestly, who would want a train wreck, and why did she care what time they were going to crash?
“Maybe Ah can get someone to help me with this…” she muttered to herself, thinking of who in the mansion was smart and willing to help.
Activity: At least a few times a week.
